China’s ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Zhou Ding and his wife this Monday led a delegation that donated various goods to the Dzikwa Activity Centre in Dzivarasekwa, Harare, ahead of commemorations to mark the Day of the African Child.
In his remarks, Ambassador Zhou expressed appreciation to the founders of the Centre, Mr. Ainamo and Mrs. Wuolle, and the staff “whose tireless dedication and love create an atmosphere where the children truly feel at home.”
He said the donation was part of the activities under the Chinese Embassy’s series of charitable initiatives titled, “Hope Harbor.”
“Today, we have selected Dzikwa Trust as one of our destination, acknowledging your long-standing dedication to the well-being of Zimbabwean children,” he said.
He added, “Upon assuming my role as Chinese Ambassador to this nation, I have been profoundly moved by the warmth of the Zimbabwean people, captivated by the stunning natural landscapes, and deeply touched by the inspiring stories of our unique friendship.”
Ambassador Zhou spoke about the strong bilateral ties between Zimbabwe and China.
“China and Zimbabwe share a rich historical bond, that dates back to over 600 years ago, and honed through China’s unwavering support during Zimbabwe’s struggle for liberation that brought independence in 1980.
“Over the past 44 years, China and Zimbabwe have remained steadfast brothers, friends, and partners, weathering challenges together. China has contributed significantly to Zimbabwe’s development, constructing hospitals, schools, airports and power stations, offering free medical services, supporting youth and women’s empowerment, benefiting millions of Zimbabweans,” he noted.
He said he believed that through collective endeavors, Zimbabwe will achieve its goal of attaining an upper middle-income economy status; and that the two peoples of Zimbabwe and China will move together in building a community with a shared future for mankind.
