Favourite Raffles win the 2024 Castle Tankard

South Africa-bred and championship-winning horse, Raffles, galloped to victory at the 2024 Castle Tankard Horse race at Borrowdale Race course this Saturday.
Going into the 2024 Castle Tankard, Raffles was the odds-on favorite to win the race and she duly delivered.
The South Africa-bred horse came into the race on the back of two victories over the 2 000 metre distance and lived up to the billing at Zimbabwe’s premier race, which is the country’s only grade one race.
Raffles stayed with the lack on the backstretch before starting to show her class on the final curve before comfortably leaving the pack on the home stretch and gallop to victory.
Trainer Bridget Stidolph was at a loss for words.
“This is amassing putting a plan together and it comes out exactly the way u put it means so much for me,” said Stidolph.
Raffles pocketed US$25 000 for the victory, while Magestic Warrior came second with Wantage concluding the podium positions.
