THE Street Film Festival has finished its work in the capital of Sakhalin.

The festival is being held here for the first time in 2023. The short film festival gathers every year about 500 thousand fans of this format.

The audience was able to watch in the open air short fiction and documentary films of competitive and non-competitive programmes, Soviet cartoons, as well as films – champions in box office receipts in recent years, as reported by Omsk Zdes, a partner of the TV BRICS.

TV BRICS the information partner of the festival, has also prepared a special programme, including a master class by Ivan Zakharenko, the leading filmmaker of special projects of TV BRICS and TV channel “Prodvizheniye”, director of short fiction and documentary films.

At the master class “International Production in Documentary Filmmaking”, he shared TV BRICS’ experience in creating the first ever international documentary film of the united editorial team of the BRICS countries “Dostoevsky Intercontinental”.

“Festivals are, on the one hand, a focus group with a particularly demanding audience, an opportunity to go live to the audience and exchange emotions, and on the other hand, a platform for the future development of B2B connections between film producers and distributors. This is where the potential path of coproduction begins. That means more interesting work, skills, experiments. It is important for us to share experience with regional partners, to invite them to cooperate – their content is always original, that’s why it is interesting for foreign viewers,” said Zakharenko.

CGTN-RUS (China Global Television Network); Brazilian media conglomerate Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação; Moja Media Holding (South Africa); regional TV company Malai Murasu TV (India) and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai (India) took part in the production of the film.

The Russian partner in the production of the film is the TV channel “Prodvizheniye”.

The premiere screening of the film about the writer, who is one of the literary and philosophical brands and a symbol of Russia in world culture, was timed to coincide with his birthday, 11 November, and was released to viewers two years ago on TV BRICS social media. Two days later, “Dostoevsky Intercontinental” was aired on the TV channel “Prodvizheniye” for the whole of Russia.

As part of the festival, the street screen also showed documentaries from the TV BRICS programme: “Rasta – Artist”, “Point of Reference”, “Blessing”, “Heritage” and short films “Poetic Lishui” Series 7, “Water”, “Tale of the River”, “To Russia with Love”, “Silver of Magadan”, “The Coral Lady”.
