Story by Abigirl Tembo, Health Editor

VICE President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga has arrived in Switzerland for the 5th edition of the Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety, which runs from the 23rd to the 24th of this month.

Vice President Chiwenga arrived at the Geneva International Airport Wednesday morning ahead of the Summit which will be held in the Swiss city of Montreux.

The Vice President, who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care, will join other health ministers and experts from across the globe in coming up with solutions towards ensuring the safety of patients.

‘‘We have come here to share ideas and discuss patient safety in our hospitals in our medical facilities. We will be discussing quite a number of issues with the World Health Organisation and other global funders under the United Nations umbrella to do with health.’’

The major focus at the two-day summit titled: ‘Less Harm, Better Care – From Resolution to Implementation,’ will be on the implementation of practical measures, with lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic playing an important role.
