DEFENDING Chibuku Super Cup champions, Dynamos, advanced to the Chibuku Super Cup quarter finals after beating Premier Soccer League log leaders, Simba Bhora, 4-3 on penalties at Wadzanayi Stadium this Saturday.
Despite their league woes, Dynamos continue to scrape through in the Chibuku Super Cup after dumping Simba Bhora out of the premium knockout competition in the land following a 1- 1 draw in regulation time.
The Glamour Boys, who have struggled to find the back of the net in open play, this Saturday found their touch through Ghanaian import Felix Hammond, who drew them back into the game after an early slumber.
Hammond’s goal cancelled out Boid Mutukure’s sixth-minute goal to take the match to penalties, with Dynamos’ precise spot-kicks earning the two-time champions a 4-3 penalty win to renew their bid for a third successive Chibuku Super Cup title.
While the blue half of the capital progressed to the last eight, it was heartbreak for the green half as CAPS United were thumped by two goals to nil at Ngoni Stadium to bow out of the tournament.
Nigel Matinha and Arthur Banda were on the scoresheet for MWOS, as the Norton-based side showed the Harare giants the exit door of a tournament they have never won.
In other matches, FC Platinum failed to utilise their home advantage as they were beaten 5-3 on penalties by Manica Diamonds following a nil-all draw in regulation time, and Bikita Minerals progressed to the last eight with a 5-4 penalty victory following a one-all draw inside 90 minutes.
Action continues this Sunday with Scottland facing Green Fuel at Sakubva Stadium, while Ngezi Platinum face Triangle.
