ZIMBABWE and India are working on improving relations in key sectors of the economy such as health and infrastructure development.
Over the years, Indo-Zimbabwe relations have resulted in the two countries signing several agreements to promote socioeconomic development in the two countries.
The ongoing 18th edition of the India Africa Conclave has offered yet another opportunity for the two nations to engage, with Vice President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga meeting with his Indian counterpart, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Dr Chiwenga says the two leaders discussed ongoing projects between Zimbabwe and India and the opportunities that exist for sustainable growth towards Vision 2030.
Vice President Chiwenga also received an award from the India-Africa Trade Council in New Delhi this Thursday.
The Chairperson of the India Africa Trade Council said it is meant to celebrate the deep relations that exist between Zimbabwe and New Dehli.
The Vice President said he is honoured to receive the award on behalf of the government and the people of Zimbabwe, adding that economic links between the two countries present a conducive environment for present-day engagements in different areas of cooperation.
The award honours achievers in the areas of peace, security, stability, growth, and prosperity.
Seven other countries including Lesotho, Malawi, Ghana, and Chad are among the recipients of the 2023 IATC awards.
Vice President Chiwenga also disclosed that an Indian business delegation is expected in Zimbabwe next month to explore areas of further cooperation.
