THE people of Chivhu have welcomed the commissioning of the Chivhu Dam, which is set to transform lives through the provision of water for irrigation and household use.
The 15th of June 2023 will forever be a day to remember for the people of Chivhu in the Chikomba district after the commissioning of Chivhu Dam by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The dam has three components which include an irrigation scheme that already has a thriving wheat crop under 105 hectares, a fisheries project and a water treatment plant.
The irrigation model which is being managed by ARDA is set to benefit 60 households.

“Our wheat as you can see is an indication of how vision 2030 can be achieved under the 2nd republic” said some of the beneficiaries.
The other component of the dam is the water treatment plant which will ensure a reliable water supply for the residents of Chivhu.
Other beneficiaries added saying “It has taken us long to have running water but the completion of the dam has brought us joy”
“We now have access to safe and clean water in our town so we thank the President”
The commissioning of the Chivhu Dam comes on the back of yet another milestone in Marondera, which saw the Muchekeranwa Dam being commissioned by President Mnangagwa last year.
