ZIMBABWE and France are exploring the possibilities of a Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC) as the Second Republic’s engagement and re-engagement drive gains global traction.
French Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Laurent Chevallier this Wednesday met officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Harare.
The Acting Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Rofina Chikava confirmed to ZBC News that discussions centred on investment opportunities that have attracted the attention of the European Country.
“We met the French Ambassador, we revisited France’s request to bring investors into Zimbabwe. We also discussed the possibilities of a Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation since France is interested in many areas of investment here,” said Ambassador Chikava.
Ambassador Chevallier said his country is committed to improving relations with Zimbabwe.
He said, “We discussed projects in many sectors that France is about to launch here in Zimbabwe and also ways to reinforce our relations with Zimbabwe as we have so many French companies already active here in Zimbabwe. So we seek to continue working together with Zimbabwe and reinforce our economic cooperation.”
At its inception, the Second Republic adopted a ‘friend to all and enemy to none policy stance,’ with massive strides having been achieved in the country’s engagement and re-engaging drive.
