BULAWAYO beauty Sakhile Dube emerged victorious last night, claiming the coveted title of Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024.
She triumphed over 17 other talented models in a dazzling ceremony held at the Harare Hippodrome.
Eighteen beauties vied for the crown, which has been on model Brooke Bruk-Jackson’s head since 2023, but it was 27-year-old Sakhile Dube from Bulawayo who walked away with the top prize, a brand-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz C200 vehicle, among other prizes.
Ruvimbo Jomboro was crowned Miss Universe Zimbabwe Second Princess, while Lisa Sibanda secured the First Princess title.
Miss Universe Zimbabwe Chairperson Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga praised the significant improvement of the contestants compared to last year.
“l don’t wish to be in the shoes of the judges because what l saw today is something else. The way they walk has improved; their pose has improved. I know some people who were here last year who can testify that this year is far much better, so l wish you all the best in whatever you’re going to choose.
“We would also like to thank the designers who made the dresses, you saw them, they showed that Zimbabwe is rising, and we are going to the international stage, and we are not apologetic about it,” she said.
A distinguished panel of judges oversaw the competition, including former First Lady, Amai Grace Mugabe, renowned event planner Kevin “The Wedding Planner”, model Brita Masalethulini, and Miss South Africa 2022, Ndavi Nokeri.
