President in Russia for St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he will attend the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which began this Wednesday and will run till Saturday the 8th.

The head of state was received at the Pulkovo International Airport by Zimbabwe’s deputy ambassador to Russia, Muponisi Dzapasi and officials from the Russian Government.

The economic forum provides a platform for participants to discuss best practices and expertise in various business areas.

Russia uses the platform to forge partnerships beyond its borders. In 2023, close to 20 000 participants from 130 countries took part in the event. This year, 136 countries are represented at the forum.

President Mnangagwa is expected to meet with President Putin during the course of his visit for one on one talks before they hold talks with delegates accompanying President Mnangagwa and officials from the Russian government.

President Mnangagwa is also expected to meet other business delegations during his stay in St. Petersburg as well as participate in a plenary session to be held tomorrow, the 7th.
