Pfumvudza/Intwasa gets support from the private sector

Story by Jerold Sasa

THE government’s Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme continues to receive endorsement from the private sector, with Higher Life Foundation supporting over 2 000 farmers with inputs in Wedza District.

Farmers who received inputs from the foundation are appreciative of the gesture which they say has improved household food security.

The farmers who spoke to ZBC News at a Pfumvudza/Intwasa Field Day in Wedza this Thursday, say support from the private sector combined with that from the government has boosted their agricultural productivity.

The government says it is willing to partner with the private sector in increasing productivity.

“As a government, we welcome the support we are getting from the private sector which will go a long way in improving our productivity,” asserted Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Aplonia Munzverengwi.

Meanwhile, the Higher Life Foundation says supporting farmers is key to a hunger-free society, creating a conducive environment for development.

“Although we pay fees for a lot of children under our scholarship programme, we decided to help farmers after realising that a hungry student will never perform well in school,” said Higher Life CEO, Philani Nyatsanza.

The organisation is assisting a total of 2 000 farmers in five wards of Wedza District.
