New ZBC board hits ground running

Story by Fungai Jachi

The newly-appointed Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) board, which met the corporation’s top management at Pockets Hill in Harare this Tuesday, is confident of adding value to the national broadcaster.

The seven-member board, chaired by Ms Helliate Rushwaya, held its first meeting with ZBC’s top management this Tuesday where they had an appreciation of the day to day operations of the national broadcaster.

Ms Rushwaya said the board is ready to execute its oversight role.

“We hope to continue with some of the good work we started with the previous board. We are looking forward to our new mandate and our core mandate is production and broadcasting. We will also work towards motivating and retaining workers,” she said.

She added that there will be zero tolerance to corruption.

“There is need to uphold good governance and we will have zero tolerance to corruption. We also want to see that there is good working space so that workers are safe. We are looking forward to executing our mandate,” she added.

The other board members include Advocate Lewis Uriri, Mr Chipo Nheta, Ms Precious Charandura, Mr Charles Munganasa, Dr Henry Mukono and Dr Nanette Silikhuni.
