THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Electoral Court Judges, who will handle all electoral disputes and ensure election-related cases are expedited during the next six months.
In an extraordinary Government Gazette published this Thursday, Chief Justice Luke Malaba confirmed that 35 High Court Judges and 76 magistrates will be deployed to electoral courts established in the country’s 10 provinces over the next six months.
Chief Justice Malaba said the judges will attend to electoral petitions while magistrates will handle criminal cases related to politically motivated violence.
The country will hold general elections on the 23rd of August this year, while the nomination court will sit on the 21st of June.
