Intra-Africa Trade Fair begins

Story by Stanley James, Business Editor

MORE than 20 Zimbabwean companies are exhibiting at Africa’s largest trade exhibition, the Intra-Africa Trade Fair (IATF), which opened this Thursday in Cairo, Egypt.

Organised by the national trade promotion agency, ZimTrade, Zimbabwe’s participation is designed to strengthen linkages between local companies and distributors across the continent.

ZimTrade estimates supply deals worth over US$20 million will be concluded at the fair.

“The ultimate target of the Africa trade fair is to grow Zimbabwe’s footprint across the African continent, where the demand for local products and services have been growing in recent years, thanks to the success of the economic diplomacy agenda by the Second Republic, where the focus has been unlocking economic benefits from Zimbabwe’s stellar political relations with all countries across the continent,” said ZimTrade Chief Executive Officer, Mr Allan Majuru.

This is the third edition of IATF and Zimbabwe will ride on the success recorded at the previous exhibitions held in South Africa where deals worth US$15 million were concluded.
