H.E Joaquim Chissano satisfied with voting process

Former Mozambican President His Excellency Joachim Chissano who is in Zimbabwe to observe the country’s general elections, has expressed satisfaction with the voting process.

President Chissano was part of election observers who witnessed the opening of the David Livingstone Primary School polling station early Wednesday morning.

He also witnessed the opening of ballot boxes and casting of postal votes.

Speaking soon after the process, the former Mozambican president expressed satisfaction with how things turned out.

“The process is going on well and smoothly and it’s very fast. I am happy with what I have seen so far,” he said.

Some of the voters who spoke to the ZBC News crew at various polling stations in Harare expressed satisfaction with the voting process.

“It’s my first time to vote and I must say I am impressed with the process it didn’t even take much time,” a voter stated.

Another said, “It feels great to be able to exercise your right as a Zimbabwean citizen and am really happy.”

Polling stations opened at 7am with results of the National Assembly and local authority polls expected to be announced at constituency command centres.
