Govt dismisses as fake; notice on procurement and disposal of public assets

Story by ZBC reporter

THE government has distanced itself from a purported gazette that has been circulating on various social media platforms to the effect that there will not be public disclosure on the procurement of certain medical goods on the basis of national interest.

In a statement to ZBC News this Wednesday, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda said the purported gazette is a nullity and should be disregarded.

The purported gazette had no signature of the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet as is the norm.

The purported gazette claimed that procurement of construction equipment and materials as well as several goods meant for the health sector will not be publicly declared, but government has since clarified that it is committed to transparency in the public procurement policy and process.
