Elephants kill 2 people in Zvimba

Two people have been killed by rogue elephants in the Zowa area of Zvimba district with authorities working hard tracking the animals.

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife management authority has confirmed the latest casualties of human wildlife conflict have been reported in Zvimba, with the agency warning communities around Zowa in Zvimba district to be on high alert.

Zimparks spokesperson, Mr Tinashe Farawo told the ZBC News, “We can confirm the unfortunate deaths of two people including a teenager killed in two separate incidents. Our reaction team is currently on the ground to track down the elephants with a view, of course, to kill them. The elephants escaped from Pamuzinda and we are currently seized with investigations.”

The parks agency is also sounding alarm for residents in Chegutu, Zvimba West and Zvimba East , as well as Makonde districts to be wary of the rogue elephants.
