THE Chivhu killer-mum, Emeldah Marizanhi who was convicted of murder for killing her four children in 2020, will spend the rest of her life in prison after she was slapped with four life sentences.

Stone cold, selfish, and highly dangerous are some of the words used by High Court Judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi to describe Emeldah Marizanhi, the Chivhu woman who killed her four children in cold blood back in 2020.

Marizanhi was slapped with a life sentence for each of her crimes, hence she will serve four life sentences.

Justice Mutevedzi said the crime was committed under aggravating circumstances as Marizanhi planned to kill her children as a result of marital problems with her husband.

Justice Mutevedzi noted that Marizanhi showed no mercy for her children as she sentenced them to death instead of respecting their right to life.

She added that Marizanhi does not deserve a second chance, neither is she worthy to be accommodated back in society, hence she should spend the rest of her life locked up.

What is however shocking is the fact that Marizanhi’s lawyer says they will lodge an appeal against the sentence.

Chiedza said, ‘‘We are definitely going to appeal against the sentence because we feel it was too harsh.’’

Marizanhi killed her children in 2020 by lacing their drinks with poison before using a knife to slit their throats.

She went on to set their house ablaze.

The children included a one-year-old with the others aged three, five and nine.
