LOG leaders CAPS United and defending champions FC Platinum proved that they are the teams to beat this season after setting the National Sports Stadium alight in the highlight of match day five fixtures which ended in a share of the spoils.
The National Sports Stadium vibrated to the rhythm of the best of domestic football this Sunday after CAPS United and FC Platinum treated fans to a game that was rich in both entertainment and quality.
The fans did not disappoint too as they came in their numbers to witness what was arguably the best match in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this season.
Never mind the fact that the gruelling contest ended in a share of the spoils, but it was the stuff that the league had been yearning for.
This was summed up by the two Chitungwiza bred Coaches Lloyd Chitembwe and Norman Mapeza.
After the encounter, CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe said, “I think this was a good game and am happy with the point taken against defending champions we had our moments and they also had theirs.”
“A draw is a fair result we witnessed some great football and at the end there was no winner but am happy with our efforts and where we are at this moment,” he added.
Despite conceding for the first time this season, CAPS United maintained top spot with 11 points while the Platinum miners are closely behind on 10 points.
While the top two teams have sent a clear message of intent, giants Dynamos and Highlanders who have a game in hand can change the script.
The two giants are still in the top four with eight points each.
Triangle moved up to fifth with eight points while the trio of Hwange, Ngezi Platinum and Simba Bhora have seven points apiece to complete the top eight.
The relegation zone is made up of Sheasham on four points, Bulawayo Chiefs on three as well as Cranborne Bullets and Green Fuel with two points each.
