IT was a busy day at the High Court in Harare as several aspiring Presidential candidates filed their nomination papers this Wednesday.
From 10 am until 4 pm this Wednesday, prospective presidential candidates filed their nomination papers at the High Court in Harare.
Among those who came through to the High Court Wednesday afternoon was the ZANU PF Presidential candidate, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“I should respect the process. I came and have been told my papers have gone through very well,” he said.
Cde Mnangagwa also called for peace, highlighting that the process has so far reflected a mature democracy.
“The process is so peaceful, this is the peace we want,” he added.
MDC-T presidential candidate, Mr Douglas Mwonzora and NCA candidate Professor Lovemore Madhuku were also at the High Court to file their papers.
“We have filed our papers and we are waiting for the papers for our MPs,” said Mr Mwonzora.
“I am just coming out of the Nomination Court. I had come to witness the opening of the nomination court. My name was on the list,” noted Professor Madhuku.
Also at the High Court was Jacqueline Sande who came to file nomination papers on behalf of independent candidate Mr Saviour Kasukuwere alongside Nelson Chamisa of the Citizens Coalition for Change.
‘We did not have double candidates except for certain individuals who stole some papers and forged signatures. We don’t foresee any problems. It’s being dealt with legally,” Chamisa said.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission will announce the Presidential candidates who successfully filed their papers.
