Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Advocate Jacob Francis Nzwidamilimo Mudenda concluded a benchmarking visit to Mozambique with a poignant visit to the Nwadjahane Village, Mandlakazi District, in the Gaza Province.

The village holds significance as the birthplace and memorial shrine of the late Dr. Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane, the esteemed Founding Father of FRELIMO, the front for the liberation of Mozambique.

Honourable Mudenda’s delegation received a comprehensive biographical history of Dr. Mondlane from his maternal grandson and shrine curator, Arlindo Hoguane.

The visit to the shrine also underscored Dr. Mondlane’s unwavering commitment to the liberation of his country, evidenced by his transition from a promising career at the United Nations to become a dedicated leader in the struggle against Portuguese colonialism.

Following the shrine tour, Speaker Mudenda expressed admiration for the quintessential memorial shrine, urging the people of Mozambique to preserve the memory of Dr. Mondlane.

“The memory of Dr. Mondlane shall live forever,” he said.

The delegation also visited the Filipe Jacinto Nyusi Airport, symbolizing modern progress for Mozambique and its neighboring SADC countries.

The Zimbabwean delegation appreciated an invitation from the District Administrator of Chongoene, Mr. Arthur Manuel Macamo, for the Zimbabwean business community to leverage the transport services provided by the airport.

Hon Mudenda’s visit to Dr. Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane’s Memorial Shrine and the surrounding sites served as a tribute to the indelible mark left by Dr. Mondlane, and as a testament to the enduring friendship between Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
