MIKE Mudara(34), a lawyer by profession and an employee of the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs has been sentenced to 18 years in prison by a Gokwe magistrate for raping a four-year-old girl.
In a statement released by the National Prosecuting Authority this Thursday, it was proved that Mudara who is a family friend raped the girl after taking her in when her parents were involved in a nasty domestic dispute.
The court heard that Mudara then threatened to beat the girl if she disclosed the matter but he was exposed after the young girl told her aunt.
The National Prosecuting Authority advocated for a stiffer penalty indicating that the convict is supposed to be a custodian of the law who should know better.
