A 31-year-old man from Masvingo has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a local businessman.
The suspect Tafadzwa Kanengoni was arrested in Zvishavane after the callous murder of a popular businessman Michael Munhungowarwa aged 41 at the Sisk business centre in Masvingo last week.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhehwa confirmed the incident.
Inspector Dhehwa noted, “After receiving a report of a murder case in the Sisky area of Masvingo, and several other armed robbery cases police launched a manhunt which led to Tafadzwa Kanengoni’s arrest. So far he is under Police custody and expected to appear in court.”
This comes at a time when cases of armed robbery and murder are on the rise with the latest statistics showing that there was a 13 percent increase in Masvingo province last year.
