Three suspected armed robbers have appeared at Chipinge Magistrates Court facing two counts of robbery.
Gondai Muyambo aged 26, 37-year-old Gift Majuwajuwana and Hardlife Mbasi were this Monday denied bail and remanded in custody to Friday by the Chipinge Magistrates Court, after being charged with two counts of robbery.
The court heard that on the 5th of May this year the co-accused armed with machetes and a hoe, demanded money from a Chipinge couple after breaking into their home.
It is alleged that one of the suspected robbers struck the complainant’s wife with a machete in the face, while the other hit the complainant on the head until they handed over US$3 150 and two cell phones.
The court further heard they the accused persons demanded keys to a Honda Fit vehicle parked in the yard, which they used as a gate-away car.
The court also heard that on the 25th of March this year the trio and their two accomplices who are still at large pounced on Hippo 7 Mine under Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge and got away with over R13 000, US$3000 and other valuables.
Two other men from Chipinge also appeared in court this Thursday after allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman.
They were granted ZW$100 000 bail.
