TWO suspected armed robbers, one of them a police officer, appeared at the Victoria Falls Magistrate Court this Saturday and were remanded in custody to 29 December.
The duo of Wellington Ndoro, a Bulawayo-based police officer aged 36 and Felias Mvula (54) are facing attempted robbery charges.
The court heard that on 14 December 2023 at around 2200 hours, the accused persons and four others who are still at large tried to force-open the complainant’s sitting room window intending to rob him.
The accused persons were however reportedly seen by the complainant who alerted the neighbourhood reaction team and the police.
The accused persons allegedly fled from the crime scene using their getaway vehicle, a South African registered Toyota Corolla.
The reaction team gave chase and managed to apprehend the two accused persons, while the other four accused persons who were armed with two pistols fled.
The pair were remanded in custody to 29 December 2023.
