A budding music outfit Paivepo Cultural Group is proving to be a force to reckon with after being invited to represent the country at the Mission Africa Conference held in South Africa recently.

The group which is into traditional music, comprises boys and girls aged between nine and 24 who are armed with skills in mbira, hosho and marimba playing.

Although some of them are visually impaired, they do not see it as an impediment to living their dreams.

Birthed in 2022, the ensemble has already received regional recognition after being considered for the Mission Africa Conference held recently in South Africa.

“We formed this group to help young people have an appreciation of Cultural music. We are glad our efforts are not going unnoticed since we got an opportunity to represent the country at the just-ended Mission Africa Conference in South Africa,” said Paivepo Cultural Group founder, Engineer Joseph Munemo.

The members highlighted that the group has helped them evade social ills such as drug and substance abuse.

“Paivepo is like our second home. The group has allowed us to showcase our talents. We are always busy here and it saves us from social ills like drug and substance abuse,” said Paivepo group members.
