Story by Colette Musanyera

The local film industry continues to grow with film producers coming up with powerful narratives that mirror society.

One such film is Depth of Emotions written and directed by a Mutare-based creative, Amanda Ranganawa, which tackles issues surrounding infertility among women, surrogacy and adoption.

The film revolves around the lead character, Grace who loses her womb due to a fibroids removal surgery, which goes wrong.

Ranganawa, an award-winning actress says, she is on a drive to raise awareness on issues surrounding surrogacy and adoption, which are seldom accepted in African communities.

‘‘Issues to do with surrogacy and adoption are seldom talked about and accepted in African society. Most of these societies do not believe in these alternatives when a woman fails to conceive. This prompted me to come up with this narrative because it is something which is affecting our society,’’ Ranganawa said.

Depth of Emotions, which is set to premiere on January 28 at a Mutare Hotel stars creatives who include Amanda Ranganawa, Joseph Hakurimwi, Barbara Vhengedza, Everjoy Mahachi, and Simbarashe Chapola among others.
