Local hip-hop lovers set to quench their thirst

Story by Colette Musanyera

HIP-HOP lovers are in for a treat with an extravaganza featuring South Africa’s rap titans Casper Nyovest and Nasty C, set to light up Harare on the 14th of next month in a musical tour dubbed “African Throne Tour”.

Featuring two mavericks on a thrilling journey to showcase the richness of African hip-hop on the global stage, the tour which started on the 1st of this month in Eswatini, will see the two South African music giants sharing the stage with Zimbabwean hip-hop stars Voltz JT, Icey Ekxyn and Slime Foxx.

The Tour, which is an African celebration of hip-hop, is meant to unite rap musicians after having celebrated the genre’s 50th anniversary.

The tour has so far been held in countries like Eswatini, Zambia, Rwanda, South Africa, and Botswana.

Meanwhile, some local hip-hop music enthusiasts took to social media to express their dismay at the exclusion of one of the biggest rap musicians in Zimbabwe Holy Ten from the concert.

Holy Ten is currently the hottest property in terms of hip hop music in Zimbabwe with chart-topping tracks such as ‘Ucharamba Uchipisa’ which has garnered two million views three months after its release, and ‘Delilah’ which has attracted more than 400 000 views barely two weeks after its release.
