Dynamos seal victory in resumed fixture to leap into third

DYNAMOS moved into third place on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table after defeating Hardrock 2-1 in the completion of their abandoned Matchday 21 fixture at Baobab Stadium on Thursday.

The match resumed behind closed doors, with only the remaining 14 minutes played following a Premier Soccer League directive after the original fixture was abandoned.

Moses Demera struck the decisive goal to hand the Glamour Boys maximum points and lift them into the league’s top three.

The defeat leaves Hardrock seven points behind leaders Scottland, dealing a major setback to their title challenge.

Attention now turns to Matchday 22, which gets underway on Friday with Scottland hosting TelOne at Rufaro Stadium as the league leaders seek to extend their winning run.

Saturday’s programme sees Simba Bhora entertain Bulawayo Chiefs, ZPC Kariba host FC Hunters, FC Platinum welcome Highlanders at Mandava Stadium, CAPS United face Ngezi Platinum Stars at Rufaro Stadium, while Chicken Inn travel to Luveve Stadium to take on Manica Diamonds.

Chicken Inn coach Tonderai Ndiraya said his side is determined to respond after last week’s defeat.

“It has been difficult lifting the boys after the 3-2 loss to Ngezi Platinum Stars. We have prepared well despite missing three key players, Mpumelelo Bhebhe, Brendon Rendo and Farai Tsinakwadi. We hope those coming in will step up,” he said.

The Matchday 22 programme concludes on Sunday with MWOS hosting Dynamos at Ngoni Stadium, Herentals taking on Hardrock at Rufaro Stadium, while AGAMA face Triangle United at Wadzanayi Stadium.
