PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has joined fellow Heads of State and Government for the second and final day of the AU-EU Summit, currently underway in Luanda, Angola.
The leaders are in a closed-door session, focusing on issues of migration and people mobility. Among those presenting are the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Yousouf.
Running under the theme, “Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism,” the two-day summit aims to renew bilateral relations between Africa and Europe by promoting a strong, balanced, and future-oriented partnership.
President Mnangagwa addressed the summit Monday night, highlighting how infrastructure gaps continue to hinder connectivity, logistics, energy access, and digital development, ultimately affecting the competitiveness of Africa’s goods and services on the global market.
He urged the European Union to increase support and investment under the Global Gateway Africa–Europe Investment Package, particularly across the priority corridors identified by the African Union.
More than 40 Heads of State are attending the summit.
