ZANU PF President and First Secretary, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa says youths must embrace the inclusive development agenda, ensuring each province plays a role in the country’s transformative journey.
He was addressing the ZANU PF National Youth Assembly at the party headquarters in Harare this Thursday.
Delivering a message of empowerment and inclusivity, President Mnangagwa said the continued roll out of agriculture and mining equipment and land to the youths will ensure that no one is left behind.
“The meeting remains one of the highest priorities platforms for the youth League as you formulate, monitor and review programmes, projects and resolutions under your purview. Our ZANU PF Party is availing agriculture and mining equipment to ensure increased productivity for the youth. To bolster these programmes the allocation of land to the youth league province by province for sustainable income generation is on-going,” he said.
The party’s President and First Secretary reiterated that within the ruling party, there is no space for divisive elements, calling for an end to tribalism and regionalism.
“We say no to all divisive elements, tribalism and regionalism must not be allowed,” he noted.
As he engaged with the youths, President Mnangagwa called on his deputies and the party’s national chairperson to give words of advice to the young people.
“There are heroes that lay in different areas who fought for the country’s independence and it is incumbent upon you the youths to protect and safeguard this independence,” said, ZANU PF National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.
“As I look across this room I am happy that as we leave we bequeath this country to the right people,” noted Vice President Colonel (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi.
Vice President General (Rtd) CDGN Chiwenga also said, “The commissariat department needs to continue teaching these youths of the value of the struggle and how to continue preserving it for the future.”
The Head of State further called on youths to shun corruption, saying there is no such thing as quick or easy money.
“Continue to shun dishonesty, all forms of corruption quick fixes mentalities and temptation to make easy money. Rise above the dependency syndrome and become not mere consumers, builders not beggars. We must serve the people not the people serving us,” he said.
Armed with the message of putting the nation first, prioritising the ideology of the colossal party, the deliberations of the National Youth Assembly will be tabled before the 22nd Annual National People’s Conference to be hosted by Manicaland Province.
