VICTORIA Falls continues to solidify its position as a premier destination for international events.
This weekend, the resort city hosted the graduation ceremony for Zambia’s Jiazo Bible College University, further boosting its global visibility.
As Victoria Falls continues to host more meetings, incentives, conferencing, and exhibition (MICE), the resort city remains visible on the global map with participants playing ambassadorial roles for the destination.
“We have some people from Botswana that had not visited this town, we have people from Zambia that had not visited this city, and right now, they say after the graduation, we want to tour Victoria Falls.
“In simple terms, they are now enjoying the destination beyond the graduation. Some have booked lodges for three four days which means after this graduation they are supporting the business that is here in terms of the lodges in terms of touring Victoria Falls,” the national administrator for-Jiazo Bible College University, Professor Isaac Silumbu said.
The graduates pledged to spread the word about the uniqueness of Victoria Falls.
“Coming from Botswana, we do not have a lot of places where we can appreciate the beauty of water and the befall waterfall that you have here. Jiazo has really played a big role in us coming here to come and appreciate this world-class destination that I believe is really a beacon of light for the nation of Zimbabwe,” said one graduant.
Another weighed in:
“Already I am organising that I should come with the members of my family and also organise a trip with some clergy man. I see myself as one of those ambassadors who will talk in terms of tourism ,who will talk in terms of Christian based values so that we link the two because in essence the natural resources are Gog given , so how do we start teaching people to appreciate that we as nations we are stewards of these products.”
Among the 21 graduates from Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia conferred with doctorate degrees include Dr Amon Madawo, Bishop AFM in Zimbabwe and Retired Police Commissioner, Dr Erasmus Makodza.
The degrees were conferred in leadership, humanity, ministry, and Christian education.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s tourism industry has surpassed its 2025 target of US$5 billion , demonstrating expedited recovery.
Victoria Falls remains a beacon of light for Zimbabwe’s tourism sector.
