THE government says the country’s security systems are on heightened alert after a bomb scare targeting airports.
In a statement, Deputy Chief Secretary Presidential Communications, Mr George Charamba said the bomb threat alert was sent through a Fastjet Airline email by an individual only identified as John Doe.
Mr Charamba added that President Emmerson Mnangagwa who was scheduled to address a meeting in Victoria Falls this Friday has suspended the trip to pave way for investigations which are already underway.
He said while the country remains peaceful and ports of entry secure, nothing must be left to chance, hence the investigation of such alerts on possible terrorist attacks.
He urged the nation to remain calm as investigations are underway, with results set to be made public once the investigations are complete.
