EQUIPPING rural health facilities with requisite resources remains a priority for the second republic, and the private sector is also making its contribution towards achieving that feat.
In a gesture to give back to the community, a local businessman, Mr Tawanda Chenana handed over ambulances to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare this Thursday morning.
The ambulances will be allocated to Macheke and Jekwa clinics in Murehwa.
Mr Chenana said as business people, they are thriving to complement the government’s efforts in enhancing the country’s health sector.
Mr Machena noted, ‘‘I am from Murehwa south, I donated these ambulances so that I can improve the health situation in Murehwa and Macheke. We are supporting vision 2030.’’
The businessman also donated bicycles to be given to village heads in some parts of Murehwa.
ZANU PF chairperson for Mashonaland East Province, Honourable Daniel Garwe, who accompanied Mr Chinana as he handed over the ambulances, said this move will edge them closer to achieving the goal of ensuring all corners of the country have requisite medical resources.
Hon Garwe said, ‘‘Vision 2030 says everyone should get access to health and this will help the people in Murehwa.’’
Partnerships between government and private players are key in achieving a vibrant health sector for Zimbabwe.
