Zimbabwe Rugby development side to host Namibia

Story by Anashe Murombedzi

The Goshawks technical department has announced a 40-member Zimbabwe development side that will host Namibian side Windhoek Draught in a Mzansi Challenge encounter set for Harare Sports Club.

The Goshawks’ participation in the invitational competition was initially in doubt, owing to financial issues, which also saw them cancelling their matches against Leopards, Eastern Province, and Boland Cavaliers last month.

The team is however back on track and will be part of the Mzansi Challenge campaign when they host Namibian side Windhoek Draught Welwitschias at Harare Sports Club this Saturday.

The Goshawks technical team has since announced a 40-member squad dominated by uncapped players.

Coach Branden Dawson has however roped in the experienced Hilton Mudariki to lead the team.

After hosting the Namibian side, the Zimbabwe select side will go on to play the Simbas in Kenya next month.

The final of the Mzansi Challenge is set for the 17th of June.
