Zimbabwean chess icon Robert Gwaze has proved experience is the best teacher after he came from retirement to top the charts at the Windhoek Chess Tournament held at the weekend.
The most decorated Zimbabwean chess player won all his seven games on his way to glory at the five-day tournament.
An international master, Gwaze, who last featured in a competitive game in 2013 won the Open Championship with a score of seven, ahead of second-placed Zambian challenger Timothy Kabwe who had 5.5 points.Â
Namibia’s top seed  Heskiel  Ndawangwapo came third with 5 points.
The women’s category was dominated by Angola’s Esperanca Caxita who had 6.5 points.
More than 100 chess players participated at the prestigious  tournament where they battled for honours in four categories.
