Midfielder Donald Mudadi outshines strikers

Story by Lawrence Trusida

DYNAMOS Midfielder Donald Mudadi is the talk of town after outshining all the top strikers in the Premier Soccer League with three goals in two matches.

One of the goals is already an early contender for goal of the season.

The enterprising central midfielder helped Dynamos break a five-game winless run after bagging a brace in the three-nil thumping of ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium this Sunday.

Mudadi was also on target in Dynamos’ 2-1 loss to Ngezi Platinum Stars last weekend, taking his tally in two matches to three.

The midfielder also scored in Dynamos’ derby victory against CAPS United, leaving him as the top goal scorer at Dembare with four goals.

Mudadi is not far off from the league’s top scorer Fortune Binzi who has eight goals.

The former Black Rhinos midfielder has been thriving in the central midfield role where he has been bursting into key scoring positions from midfield to great effect.

The modest midfielder has arguably been Dynamos’ best player this season and has a clear case for being one of the best in the league after 12 games.

Alongside the energetic Tanaka Shandirwa, Mudadi has driven a Dynamos side that has misfiring strikers.

The victory lifted Dynamos to sixth on the log with 18 points, four points behind current log leaders Highlanders who have 22 points after bagging their first win in five games, courtesy of a one-nil victory over Bulawayo Chiefs.

Chicken Inn are second with 21 points, the same as defending champions FC Platinum who has risen after three consecutive victories.

Ngezi Platinum Stars, who play a rejuvenated Yadah side this afternoon at the National Sports Stadium are fourth with 20 points while inconsistent Manica Diamonds conclude the top five with 19 points.

With the conclusion of the first third of the season, Black Rhinos should start to get worried as they still anchor the log despite bringing in a new Coach.

Chipembere has one win this season and a mere six points, while new boys Green Fuel are four points better as Sheasham and ZPC Kariba conclude the bottom four with 11 points apiece.
