THE Zimbabwe women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, have lost the five-match T20 series after Ireland took an unassailable three-nil lead courtesy of a 60-run victory at Harare Sports Club this Tuesday.
The Lady Chevrons came into the match looking for a way back into the series while the Irish only wanted to kill off the series as a contest.
The tourists chose to bat after winning the toss and from the first over, it was clear that the Irish women were going for a big total.
At the halfway mark, they were already on 71 runs for a loss of two wickets.
Ireland went on to set up a target of 170 after posting 169 for a loss of three wickets.
The hosts were on the back foot and they never really recovered.
Teenager Kellis Ndlovu once again led the scoring for the hosts with 36 and she was assisted by Loreen Tshuma with 26 as the two were the only batters to get into double figures.
Zimbabwe were bundled out for 109 runs and conceded the five-match series with two matches to play.
The two sides return to the field on Thursday for the fourth T20 match.
