Hwange talks tough ahead 2023 PSL season

Story by Mhlomuli Ncube

LEAGUE returnees Hwange who are back in the Premier Soccer League after being relegated in 2019 have declared that they are in the top flight to stay.

Affectionately known as Chipangano, Hwange have had an on-and-off relationship with the Premier Soccer League.

The Colliery side has been relegated three times since the turn of the millennium but somehow they have found their way back.

Relegated again in 2019, Hwange are back in the top flight and if the buzz in their training camp is anything to go by then there is no doubt Chipangano are not in the premiership to make up numbers.

Head coach Bongani Mafu and his players are singing from the same hymn book.

‘‘We are coming to the Premier League to win and we are targeting to win. The Premiership is not new to us and we want to win the first game and all others.’’

Hwange FC player Kelly said, ‘‘I am ready to go and am prepared and ready to play now, we will surprise everybody and show them that we fear no one.’’

Chipangano who are not going for big names preferring to strengthen their squad through trial are confident that the so-called giants will not stand in their way with the ultimate goal being to stay afloat.
