BULAWAYO giants Highlanders will have to punch above their weight to stop a high-flying Manica Diamonds outfit when the two sides clash in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League mid-week fixture slated for Barbourfields stadium this Thursday.
The last time the Gem boys were in Bulawayo for a date against Highlanders they came back empty handed despite a spirited fight.
Fast forward to 2024, Manica Diamonds are top of the PSL table having gone unbeaten for eight matches.
The two sides collide this Thursday in a midweek fixture with recent statistics against the home team as Highlanders have collected a paltry two points from their last four outings.
This has, however not dampened the spirits of the Bosso faithful.
Former Highlanders midfielder Hillary Madzivanyika has called for a cautious approach.
“We have to approach that game with caution. Manica are having a good run while we are struggling of late but its going to be a good game. However we feel the gate charges are too high for a midweek fixture.”
Last season the home side claimed the bragging rights, but the task is totally different this time around with Manica Diamonds at the top of their game.
