Herentals, Bikita Minerals share spoils

Story by Raynald Ngwarati

HERENTALS and Bikita Minerals could not be separated in the rearranged Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day One fixture after a one-all at Rufaro Stadium this Saturday.

The lone fixture of the weekend in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League did not make a lot of changes on the PSL standings as Herentals failed to maximise on home advantage to draw one-all against Bikita Minerals.

The home team produced a below par performance at Rufaro as they went one-nil down in the first half, thanks to Evans Katema’s effort at goal.

Katema’s goal gave the Lithium Boys the bragging rights for the majority of the match, but Herentals were alert to avoid conceding defeat against the PSL new comers.

Blessing Majarira inspired a comeback immediately after the hour mark to ensure Herentals retrace their way back into the match.

After Majarira’s goal, neither side could net a winner as the match ended in a one-all stalemate.

The match is the only fixture for the weekend after the PSL took a three-week break to pave way for the Warriors’ World Cup qualification assignments and the COSAFA Tournament.
