Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

THE newly established Heart Stadium, officially commissioned by His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has charmed various
stakeholders in the sports industry who have described the facility as a huge step in addressing the stadia crisis in the country.

The state-of-the-art, 5000-seater heart stadium constructed by Prophet Walter Magaya and his Prophetic, Healing, and Deliverance Ministries (PHD), will be ready for use in the Premier Soccer League next season.

The stadium is fully installed with bucket seats and has changing rooms matching international standards.

Stakeholders in the Sports industry have applauded Prophet Magaya for helping alleviate the stadia crisis in the country.

Premier Soccer League, chief executive officer, Kenny Ndebele said, “This is good news, not only for the PSL but for Zimbabwe, it goes a long way. Getting such a facility now helps a lot in planning, and this is what we have always been talking about, clubs getting their facilities.”

“Big is not always best, this is one of the best stadiums in Zimbabwe, the National Sports is too big for our PSL but such cosy grounds make it better and we comment PHD for this ground and working together and helping the government,” Sports and Recreation Commission Chairperson, Gerald Mlotshwa said.

The owners of the facility commended the government for creating an enabling environment.

PHD founder, Prophet Walter Magaya said, “When the environment is created we will perform, we want to thank the government for creating an environment that has helped plus thrive, we want to take this to other cities, starting with Chitungwiza.”

The Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Kirsty Coventry also paid tribute to Prophet Magaya.

“This compliments what the government is trying to deliver and we commend you for that, the private sector has shown what they can deliver if they work with the government on this world-class facility that will host not only Yadah but the whole of Zimbabwe,” she said.

The stadium will be open for PSL matches next year and the custodians have promised to upgrade it to be able to accommodate more spectators.
