Gamecocks, Chipangano meet in a pre-season friendly

Story by Mhlomuli Ncube

Hwange and Chicken Inn played a nil-all draw in a friendly match played this Sunday in Hwange.

The match was played at the Hwange Old Ground to pave way for the ongoing renovations at the Colliery Stadium.

The match had many points to ponder on as the Chipangano coach continues to plot an envisaged successful Premiership comeback.

“I am not content with the result because this is preseason and the main aim is not to get a win, every coach wants to get a win. Every team wants to get a win, but it is to see how the team is working as a unit,” said Hwange FC coach, Bongani Mafu.

His opponent Prince Matore was however more upbeat.
“That’s the squad. So far, so good. We want to see how they are playing. What is important is to try and win every game,” he said.

After being condemned as unfit to hold Premiership games, Hwange Colliery Stadium is being renovated to ensure that it meets local football standards to host top flight matches.
