WBC Super Bantamweight champion Kudakwashe Chiwandire and other boxers under Delta Force Boxing Academy have received a shot in the arm after their stable signed a deal with a local plumbing firm which will see them being employed.

The partnership between the two organisations will see boxers getting gainful employment at RM plumbing company.

Already two boxers, Tinashe Mwadziwana the national super bantamweight champion, and Farai Makombe have started their duties at the firm.

World Boxing Council interim Super bantamweight champion, Kudakwashe Chiwandire who is also set to get a role at the company believes the move is a game changer.

Chiwandire noted, ‘‘This is very good because boxers now know they have an extra income and can concentrate on their careers remember sport is for a short time, and knowing that after your career you have something to do is very comforting.’’

The sponsors are determined to change lives.

The sponsor said, ‘‘We want to make sure that athletes are fully equipped for the fight they are currently facing but to also prepare them and equip them for life after their sports careers. So, towards that end, we will be offering conducive employment opportunities for Deltaforce boxers such that they can balance out their professional boxing careers with gainful employment, life skill development, and entrepreneurship opportunities.’’

Meanwhile, Kudakwashe Chiwandire is set to depart Harare for Mexico on the 11th of this month to face Yamileth Mercado for the WBC Super Bantamweight belt.

The bout is slated for the 18th in Chihuahua.
