IT will be a defining moment for the Chevrons as they gun for the remaining slot at the International Cricket Council T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier when they face Nigeria in Namibia this Wednesday.
The Chevron’s fate is no longer in their hands as they hope to win all their remaining matches and pray Uganda and Kenya drop points.
Zimbabwe are still to play two more matches and they need nothing short of victory in those two matches.
After collecting four crucial points by defeating Tanzania and Rwanda and losing to hosts Namibia and minnows Uganda, Zimbabwe currently occupy the fourth spot on the seven-team table.
Namibia lead the points table with eight points followed by the duo of Uganda and Kenya with six points apiece.
Zimbabwe are hoping to continue with the momentum when they face Nigeria this Wednesday.
The Chevrons enter the match holding two victories while Nigeria only tasted victory once.
While Dave Houghton’s men need to win their remaining two matches, they will be hoping for some specific results for Uganda to slip up to Kenya.
If Uganda slip up, it is likely to be a winner-takes-all scenario on the final day between Zimbabwe and Kenya.
Meanwhile, Namibia have already booked a slot in the global tournament set to be co-hosted by the United States and West Indies as Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe battle for the remaining ticket.
