Former Women Super League champions Black Rhinos Queens are sharpening up their horns as they brace for the start of the 2023 season.
Chauya Chipembere were dethroned last year by Herentals Queens after dominating the women’s league for close to a decade.
Ahead of the new season, the Rhinos Queens have recovered from the wounds and are raring to be a threat and claim back the championship
“We are in the pre-season and we are preparing ourselves to accomplish our target to reclaim the title which was won by Herentals last season. The preparations are going well and there’s positivity in the camp it’s now three weeks since we started and there is progress. So far, we have not done any signings yet and no one has left the club but we are targeting to get our juniors to play for the senior team,” said Black Rhinos Queens technical advisor, Waddington Chinyan’anya.
Black Rhinos Queens have mastered a strong junior policy and the technical team is on a hunt to promote under 20 players to revamp the senior team.
The Women’s Super League 2023 season is set to return on the 18th of this month beginning with a pre-season tournament with a date set to be announced in due course.
Meanwhile, former Mighty Warriors and Harare City striker Rudo Neshamba has been appointed to her first coaching post after joining Real Betis Academy.
Neshamba will head the academy’s girls’ division, which the management is setting.
