All is set for the 2024 FBC Zimbabwe Golf Open which tees off at Royal Harare Golf Course this Thursday.

Local and international golfers will showcase their talent at the country’s premier golf event.

A strong lineup of golfers will be in action in the four championship days at the Open that was reintroduced in 2010.

The organisers are excited about the competition that lies ahead.

“We are very excited to be here and the line-up of golfers makes us even more excited we have former champions coming up as well as the best when it comes to local golfers,” said tournament director, Micheal Mahachi.

The golfers are eager to make a mark at this year’s championship.

“It is good to be back here, and I am looking forward to some good rounds of golf the good thing is the weather here and Pretoria is pretty much the same and I have been there for a long time so this feels like home,” said golfer, Jacques Blaauw.

Another golfer, Keegan Shutt said, “Looking to make a mark here, this is home, and we need to stamp our authority here.”

The strong lineup of golfers is led by former winners, Darren Fichart and JC Ritchie, while last year’s runner-up Jacques de Villiers is also in the mix.

The Vincent brothers; Scott and Keegan who have been competing on the LiV golf tour will carry Zimbabwe’s hopes, while Robson Chinhoi would want to shake off his poor form at home.

32 local golfers including battle-hardened Ben Folliet Smith and Tongowona Charamba as well as youngsters; David Amm and Stuart Krog will battle for honours at the prestigious tournament.

A US$200 000 purse has been set aside for this year’s tournament.
