AFZ Inter-Base Sports Competitions kick-off

Story by Peter Chivhima

THE 2023 Air Force of Zimbabwe Inter-Base Sports Competitions kicked off at Manyame Airbase in Harare this Monday, with the focus on instilling discipline.

The multi-sports tourney, which was on hold for the past three years due to COVID-19 induced restrictions, will see participants drawn from all the AFZ’s bases compete in more than 20 sport codes which include soccer, netball and volleyball.

“These competitions are vital in the AFZ as they help in keeping our members fit. Military personnel need to be fit always. Sports are also important in instilling discipline among our members. So our gathering here today is important as the AFZ family. My message today to the participants is for them to behave well and we are saying no cheating since we are one,” said AFZ Chief of Staff Operations, Air Vice Marshal Biltim Chingono.

The AFZ Inter-Bases Sports Competitions will run until Friday.
