ZIMBABWE has made significant strides in the journey towards a future shaped by digital innovation and economic transformation.
This came out at a conference held on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
The Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services has brought together telecommunication experts who revealed that Zimbabwe is well on its way in accelerating the digital technology thrust.
The engagement was held on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo this Tuesday.
“We as a country are not so far behind especially in the region in the digital revolution, although there is need for more digital infrastructure to ensure that we are at par with international standards,” said a participant.
“There is need to rope in everyone especially young people because they are the drivers of the digital economy. It is imperative for Zimbabwe to move with current trends however regulatory policies need to be in place to ensure security of digital user,” said another.
The Ministry revealed that government has proved beyond reasonable doubt that it is committed to leaving no one and no place behind in the digitalisation drive.
“We are moving along with the digital footprint and ensuring that everyone is on board. We were in Domboshava recently launching digital programs in the remote area. We want to ensure that as we move forward there is no digital divide because there will come a time when everything will go digital,” noted the Deputy Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Honourable Dingumuzi Phuthi.
In a fast-developing digital world, collaboration and innovation are the keys to unlocking the full potential of Zimbabwe’s economy to ensure competitiveness and adaptability to the digital revolution.
