ZANU PF supporters urged to unite ahead of polls

THE ZANU PF leadership was in Mkoba North Constituency of Gweru this Wednesday to drum up support for the ruling party candidate ahead of by-elections set for this Saturday.

The ruling party is leaving nothing to chance ahead of by-elections slated for this Saturday.

The party’s National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha said the secret to winning the seat lies in unity of purpose among the party supporters.

‘We want to see the ZANU PF candidate getting into office. Sometimes our failure is because of squabbles amongst ourselves. The primaries sometimes bring divisions. We want to do away with this. We are not supporting individuals, let’s put the party ahead. Yes, we are saying let’s support Edgar because supporting Edgar is supporting the party.”

Turning to the issue of the party’s District Coordinating Committee (DCC), Cde Bimha warned party supporters against angling for positions as there is still a lot of groundwork to be covered before the elections are conducted.

“There are some who are wasting energy on canvassing for support for the DCC positions. We don’t even know when the DCC elections will be held. Don’t waste your money buying support. We are in the process of rectifying the cells and the DCC elections will only be held when the cells are rectified so those positioning for DCC stop it. Let’s focus on the elections and ensure our candidate gets into parliament.”

The event also saw the ruling party donating ten laptops and mealie meal to be distributed in the constituency.

ZANU PF is being represented by Cde Edgar Ncube in the Mkoba North by-elections.
